London Choir Performance - Dec 18

We held a special choir concert for the village this afternoon before we head down to the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday to sing for the Members there.

Pegswood Women's Institute raised the idea of taking a girls' choir to the Houses of Parliament to commemorate:
100 years since the passing of the first WI resolution
100 years since the end of World War One
100 years since the RAF was formed
100 years since the first law was passed for women to vote
and of course...... Christmas.

We were treated to a variety of traditional Christmas carols including 'Deck the Halls', 'A Starry Night' and 'Carol of the Bells'.

Christmas was interspersed with readings relating to World War One, a rendition of 'Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines' and a poignant reading of 'Christmas Eve in 1914' by Mike Harding.

The concert ended with a rousing, flag waving (Last Night of the Proms style!!) rendition of Jerusalem and of course 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'.

There was a well-deserved standing ovation for the choir at the end.

Next stop........London!
